Transport & Travel

You can be as flexible as you like when choosing how to join us in Italy for our special day. We have created a page for those of you who would prefer a package holiday arrangement. However you can book your flights, transfers and hotel separately
to get some great deals or if you need to be more flexible on the time you spend in Italy by staying as little as 2 nights.

We have a separate page for suggested local hotels.

There are a number of flight options available to visiting Lake Garda.

We have listed some budget airline options below. New routes for early 2012 are now available but not yet June 2012 so keep an eye out!

The nearest airport to Malcesine is Verona Villafranca (VRN). There is a smaller airport Verona Brescia (VBS) which some operators also fly to. However this is a smaller airport, further out and we have based all our info on flying into the major airport Verona Villafranca (VRN).

Flights with easyJet to Verona (VRN) are from London Gatwick daily.
Flights with Ryanair to Verona (VRN) are from London Stansted Mon/Wed/Fri & Sun.
Both these airlines fly direct.

http://www.ryanair.com

Currently flights with both operators are about £60-80 per person return (with carry on luggage only).

You can also fly British Airways to Verona (VRN) from Gatwick. The flight cost you first see on their website may seem pricier then the budget airlines but the cost shown normally includes all hidden costs and includes an item of hold luggage per person (although it is BA so no guarantee your luggage will end up where you are) so it is worth shopping around.

Transfers from Verona International 1 hr

Either get the tourist shuttle bus from the airport to Malcesine (20euros) or hire a car, the route to the lake is very easy.

Bus: The most convenient airports for Malcesine are Verona Villafranca Airport, and Brescia Airport. You can reach Malcesine by public transport from either airport, although Verona is rather easier. From Verona Airport, take a bus into Verona, then change to the APTV 62/64 bus service to Riva del Garda, stopping in Malcesine. From Brescia Airport you would need to take one of the two airport shuttle buses: either into Brescia (you would then need to take a bus or train to another lake resort such as Desenzano, then change to a bus or ferry for Malcesine) or to Verona (for the 62/64 service).

Train: Not sure about Trains... but CAR HIRE is pretty easy to sort, it's just over an hour to drive to Malcesine, with easy Motorway Access, you may wish to hire a car and transfer yourselves from your local airport. We used http://www.carhire3000.com they compare a number of international car hire sites. Car hire for 4 nights can start as little as £70 on average it will be £100 - £150. If you share between 4 people, it's probably more cost effective than getting a taxi transfer.

Taxi: Here is a mini bus transfer company I found which may be useful for group transfers from the airport. Taxi transfer from Verona (VRN) is about 120 euros... but if there is a group of you, this may be a good way to transfer via a mini bus taxi.
